February Monthly Update

Hello everyone! In this month's post, I will be going over what has happened this month and what you'll be expecting in March, all for your consumption. Enjoy!

---

On February 4th-5th, the team competed at the Big Question Debate at Centennial High School. It was a major success! In addition to our regular team members competing, we had some students in other classes that were invited to participate as well.

Congratulations to Jesse Fonseca and Matthew Maillet for placing 2nd at the tournament! Great job and thank you to everyone who came out to help and compete!

Besides the BQD, there are no regular tournaments this month. However, that doesn't mean that our team is sleeping!

On March 9th, the Portland Urban Debate League is holding a tournament at Marshall High School from 4pm-5:30pm. This is a great opportunity to hone your debate skills!

The team is heavily preparing for the OSAA District 12 Tournament at Sandy High School on March 13 and 14th. We will be going against 4 other schools (Barlow, Corbett, Gresham, and Sandy) and this is the time to bust out the skills we have developed, as this tournament will determine if we will qualify to compete at the state level or not.

March 13th is the first day of districts (Debate), and it will run from 3pm-9pm. There is no school on that day, so make sure to arrive at the school by 2:30 to catch the bus!

March 14th is the second and final day of districts (Speech) and it will run from 10am-4pm. Make sure to arrive at the school by 9:30am to catch the bus!

We need judges for distrcits! If you would like to be a judge, please make a Tabroom account and email your information to Coach Loeung at jen_loeung@csd28j.org.

The Forensic Files is something new that I've started this year. If you'd like to be subscribed to a monthly email newsletter to be informed on all of the specifics of what's happening that the monthly blog posts do not cover. The Forensic Files is made specifically for the parents, but if any member on the team wants to be on the list as well, please contact me at rachelhanhle@gmail.com.

And that is all for this month! See you in March. :)
