December Update
Happy holidays! Besides Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa, we have many things to celebrate this month as we wrap up the first half of our season, and we're so excited to share them with you. In this edition of our monthly update, you will find our plans for the month and some interesting tidbits about this month's tournament as well as next month's, all for your consumption. Enjoy :).

On Saturday, December 1st, our team traveled to Clackamas High School (aka not Sandy) and competed in the final Novice/Open tournament of the year. Being one of the largest tournaments of the year, we knew it would be a challenge to place against so many schools. However, we held our own once again and even had more finalists for the Clack tournament this year than we did last year. These are the following results from the tournament:
Jaden Gebauer (freshman) - 4th place Novice ADS
Rachel Le (sophomore) - 3rd place Novice Informative
Alexander Dimitrov (freshman) - 6th place Novice Informative
Maria Gomez (senior) - 4th place Novice Poetry

We are so proud of our competitors! We would also like to courteously extend thanks to our judges, coach, and bus driver who filled in last minute and made sure we got to our tournament on time despite some obstacles. You guys are amazing!

On Friday, December 7th, we had our annual team holiday party at Miranda's crib. It was a total blast and a great experience for the team to relax and hang out as friends. Highlights include playing video/card games, and the secret Safaa/white elephant gift exchange.

On December 28th, we will need several volunteers to come to Centennial to help paint Mrs. Loeung's room. If you can make it, please let Mrs. Loeung know :).

This month, we have TWO EXTRAORDINARILY special birthdays to celebrate and add to the holiday cheer. On December 13th, the one, the only, Taylor Alison Swift is turning 29 years old! Although she doesn't compete with CHS, she always accompanies us to every tournament and makes sure we are having a ball. Thanks Taylor, we've been enchanted to have you.
On December 28th, the co-publicist, blogger of this fantastic website, Card-slayer, informative kween, face of the team, Shelbey Colt is celebrating her sweet 16 this year! The team is so honored for having such a hardworking and devoted member, and one of the main reasons why the team has the strong bond it has today. Thank you Shelbey for being a big part of our lives.

That concludes December! I hope you enjoy the long break we have between tournaments and that you will be fully regenerated for McMinnville on January 26th. As of the time of writing this blog, there has been no invitation released for McMinnville, but as soon as there is I will link it right here.
